I have heard this in various different ways.. have you too.. ? To tap into your story, what you want to do in life etcetera.. so why is it not happening, or how do you tap more into it?
Do you know that your life also is a story longing to be expressed and told?
I don’t remember the first time I passed along the expression of this.. but the photo course opportunity with Joe Buissink, a famous wedding photographer in Beverly hills who travels around the world gave me memories I’m fond of. I went to one of his lectures some years ago while he was visiting Stockholm. I remember being so fascinated by the pictures, stories, photo techniques etcetera, looking at his pictures shown on the screen, telling and explaining the stories behind several of his pictures. He showed a part of his personal story too, as this was portraied in his photos as well. It shined through in his photography, and he was explaining how and told us listening to go and find our own as well. He always asked those hiring him to let him get his way around too, to include a photoportrait that talked to him.. he said that would let the “fun” in photographing be kept along the road. Of course he also took those standard, beauty, must haves for everyone.. This gave me more food for thought, a good feeling of that we all have our own expression while we take photos, just as I was told and also saw when I was studying photography.. a year long education at Folkuniversitetet. We would always see how each and everyone of us attending captured photos differently, it could be the light, tha angle, the expressions caught.. and soon you could tell a bit who had took what photo by the style.. everyone adding their photos of the current excercise at the big table in front of us. Many thoughts, stories and suggestions on what to try further came up around those times.
And then now, listening to a lesson in documenting food stories, the two photographers Todd and Diane are explaining how their childhood memories and relationships to food have brought them to where they are.. It wasn’t necessarily something they liked back then.. one of them longed for other food than they were served as child, but it formed them to who they are, and today it’s a strength.
So, how do we know what we love? I’ll try to give you a hint:
– What makes you jealous? This is a quote from a magazine, where Madonna said something about this… and I think it partly works. Although on the schamanic path you learn why there is no need for that either, so not sure what word to replace it with, but you get the idea.
– What makes you want to go up at five in the morning, or stay up until midnight?
– Are you looking from within, what You really want (so that it’s not from what others want?)?
Dragonflies are about change and self-realization of the greater meaning of life.. and they cross my path now..
I believe, that when you work on striving towards your goals, you must not forget to empty your cup along the way.. because, that may be why, although you are doing everything right visualizing your goals, and they still don’t show up.. yet.. don’t give up.. keep going! And empty that cup, that invisibly or visibly is holding you back..
